18 political parties to participate in Oyo LG poll

In the next local government election in Oyo State, eighteen registered political parties have expressed interest in running candidates.

This was announced on Sunday in Ibadan by Mr. Isiaka Olagunju, chairman of the Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC).

According to Infostride News, OYSIEC has declared that it is prepared to hold the local government election scheduled for April of 2019.

According to the commission, 18 recognized political parties have shown willingness to run candidates in the upcoming election.

Olagunju praised the parties for holding calm primaries.

He stated, “Eighteen of the State’s recognized political parties have expressed an interest in running candidates in the upcoming election.

Election is a process, and we can do better for the 2021 local government council elections we held.

“The situation is getting better; the commission has been monitoring the primaries of various political parties, and unlike in the past, everything has been running smoothly and without incident.

So that this election is peaceful and credible, this is the attitude I hope all political parties and voters will have.
