Aftermath of the election of the 708 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ad-hoc delegates across the 236 wards in Ogun State on Saturday, September 8, 2019, Hon (Dr) Oladipupo Adebutu, consulted and sought the support of the delegates on his Ogun State 2019 gubernatorial aspiration.
Convinced by his sincerity, capacity and understanding of the issues in Ogun State, Adebutu was unanimously endorsed by the Adhoc and statutory delegates ahead of the primaries slated for October 3, 2018.
The endorsement by the elected representatives was witnessed by foremost Ogun PDP political leaders and stakeholders.
Addressing the delegates at the Olusegun Obasanjo Library Auditorium, on September 10, 2019, Adebutu stated that his desire to offer his service to the people of Ogun State was not bothered on sectional interest but that of sincerity to change the character and complexion of governance in the gateway state.
He asked them to hold him to task if he failed to provide developmental, purposeful and transparent leadership as historically epitomised by the past regimes of Chief Bisi Onabanjo, Chief Segun Osoba and Otunba Gbenga Daniel.
Hon Ladi who could not hide his discomfort with the ugly situation of the state’s economy, pledged a compassionate government where the welfare of the people would occupy the front burner and guaranteed life in abundance. He called for unity among all party members.
The PDP National Screening and Appeal Committees members were part of the occasion. Impressed by the conduct of the delegates, Princess Agboola Fisher-Thomas, Chairman, Electoral Committee, charged the elected representatives to “work collectively for the collective victory of PDP.”
Equally, Fisher-Thomas affirmed the authenticity of the Hon Sikirulai Ogundele led Ogun State PDP Executive Officers.
The Adhoc and Statutory delegates with the five pillars of the 20 local governments and 236 wards will be participating in the forthcoming PDP primaries. Their votes will determine those who will fly the flags of the party in the 2019 general elections.
The primaries are scheduled as follows: State House of Assembly Primaries – September 26, 2018; House of Representatives Congresses – September 30, 2018; Senatorial District Congresses – October 2, 2018, Governorship Primaries – October 3, 2018 and Presidential Primary Election – October 6, 2018.
