The International Debt Statistics which has been in existence for close to five decades now, aids policymakers and analysts by monitoring aggregate and country-specific trends in external debt in low- and middle-income countries.
According to the World Bank the statistics provides a narrative of external borrowing and sources of lending by type of borrower and creditor with information on data availability and comparability.
The World Bank stated that in a bid to enhance data transparency, this year’ report reveals detailed data on the creditor composition of lending from official sources.
The World Bank revealed that the report which is an essential element in assessing the support many low- and middle-income countries will need to manage their external debt through the current crisis.
The debt statistics for 2021 provides a set of indicators, with an increased data set available online.
