The Special Election Team of Zone 6 Command, Calabar of the Nigeria Police has arrested a man with 813 permanent voters’ card at Izzi, Ebonyi State.
The suspect, identified as Madueke Sunday, 31, He reportedly concealed the PVCs in a ‘Ghana must go’ bag.
Commenting on the arrest, head of the Special Election Team, DSP Obere Friday, said it took place last Monday, after the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of the zone, Tunde Ogunsakin received a phone call about the activities of the suspect.
“The team was immediately put into action by the AIG and they moved into Izzi where the suspects were said to have been seen in the wee hours of the morning. On sighting the Police, the suspects took to their heels but were apprehended when they attempted to jump over a fence.
“Consequently, one of them, Madueke Sunday, 31, who hails from Izzi, Ebonyi State, was arrested in possession of a ‘Ghana-must-go’ bag containing the PVCs”
Ogunsakin told journalists that he had ordered a thorough investigation to be carried out, with a view to making more arrests. He commended the Special Electoral Team for its determination and commitment.
He restated the commitment of the Police to combat every plan against a hitch-free election in the four states under his watch, comprising Akwa Ibom, Cross River, Ebonyi and Rivers.
