The Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, Lere Olayinka, has revealed that 9,532 individuals owe outstanding fees on land allocated to them in Abuja.
Olayinka disclosed that former Military Head of State, Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), is among the defaulters, with an outstanding debt of N152 million for a plot of land in the Asokoro area of Abuja.
Other prominent figures on the list include former Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom, who owes N950,000 for a plot in Bazango, and Senator Aminu Tambuwal, representing Sokoto South, who owes N18 million for a plot in Carraway Dallas.
In a Facebook post, Olayinka stated:
“9,532 people are owing on lands allocated to them in Abuja.
A few days ago, the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) published a list of 9,532 alleged land title debtors. They have two weeks to settle their outstanding bills.
“Among those listed are Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (IBB), owing N152 million for a plot of land in Asokoro; Samuel Ortom, owing N950,000 for a plot in Bazango; and Aminu Tambuwal, owing N18 million for a plot in Carraway Dallas.
If you are among the 9,532 people, go and pay ooo.”
This revelation comes amid intensified efforts by the FCTA under Wike’s leadership to enforce compliance and recover debts.
The FCT administration has recently embarked on a series of property demolitions and land revocations to ensure proper land use and adherence to guidelines.
The debtors have been given a two-week deadline to clear their outstanding payments or face further enforcement actions.
