The Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), has deployed over 1,000 personnel to ensure hitch free celebration of Eid-el-Fitri in the state.
The state Commandant of NSCDC, Lawan Bashir-Kano made the announcement on Monday in Lafia, while briefing newsmen on the preparedness of the corps to ensure security of lives and properties during the festivity.
He said the deployment was in compliance with a directive issued by the headquarters of the NSCDC that its personnel be deployed to strategic locations and flashpoints across the state.
He said that the 1,000 personnel including those in uniform and undercover would work round the clock from Tuesday to Thursday alongside regular officers.
“The personnel so deployed are also responsible for the protection of critical national assets to forestall any form of vandalism of the facilities.
“The command has also increased surveillance and patrol in Lafia metropolis and other towns across the state to ensure that criminals are nabbed before they commit any crime,” he added.
Bashir-Kano urged the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious movement, person or activities to the nearest security outfit for prompt action.
