September 14, 2016 marked the fifth anniversary since the Nigerian music industry lost indigenous rapper, Obiajulu Kenneth Nwaozor popularly called MC Loph.
MC Loph, who became popular through his hit remix of Late Osita Osadebe’s ‘Osondi Owendi’, was said to be driving down to the East along the Benin-Ore road when his car crashed on Wednesday, September 14, 2011.
He was in the company of his sister and fiancée, who would have become his bride just a few days after. His bride-to-be survived the accident while his only sibling died.
He was buried on Friday, October 28, 2011 along with his sister Chinwe at his family’s compound in Ugwuaro, Anambra State.
Mc Loph, known to rhyme in Igbo, started rapping from his secondary school days in the East. He attended the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN).
He is credited with two albums Wrekonize and Hands up which spurned the hit song ‘Osondi Owendi’ featuring fellow Eastern singer Flavour.
Both albums were released under EastSyde Records. The rapper, before his death, worked with other acts like Blackface, Faze, Raw Nwanne, and a few others.
He’s fondly remembered on social media by fans and indigenous rappers like Phyno, Raw Nwanne, Shakar El and others.
