After heavy rainfall on Monday, June 12, 2017, a bridge at Tatabu village along Mokwa-Jebba road in Kwara state has collapsed.
There were no deaths recorded during the incident, although a few vehicles fell into the collapsed section of the road.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), led by the Unit Commander ACC Danladi Samari, were at the scene on Tuesday to assess the damage as movement on the bridge became impossible.
The FRSC has advised that motorists use an alternative route to continue their business while repairs commence on the bridge.
The administration of former President GEJ awarded the contract for the rehabilitation of the Ilorin-Jebba-Mokwa-Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna road to the tune of N14.58 billion in November 2013.
350 local staff and 100 sets of equipment were deployed in December 2016 to work on the project.
