The Federal High Court sitting in Abeokuta, up till about 11:30pm on Thursday, 21st February, was still in proceeding to hear the case between the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Senator Buruji Kashamu.
The National Secretariat of PDP had approached the court seeking to declare the primaries that produced Senator Buruji Kashamu as governorship flagbearer of the party as null and void.
The matter which was earlier slated for judgement last week Thursday, 14th February, 2019 was truncated with two fresh applications for joinder which was consequently granted by the court.
After joining the parties last Thursday, the court ordered the hearing of the main matter today but in the usual manner of delaying justice, another interested party applied to be joined in the matter, which was immediately granted only for the counsel to seek for another adjournment.
The court on Thursday afternoon ordered that the matter be stood down till 6pm on Thursday so as to allow all interested parties seeking to be heard in the case to prepare for hearing. The presiding judge also ordered that all processes with respect to the case be filed before the court.
On resuming hearing around 7pm, Justice Abubakar Shittu after adopting all Preliminary Objections and plaintiff responses to Preliminary Objections, the court proceeded with hearing of the main motion.
However, the court adjourned further hearing of the matter till Monday, 25th February, 2019 for parties to adopt their processes.
According to the judge, the court took the pain to listen to the matter up till the wee hour of the Thursday to forestall any further delay in the case. The judge discountenanced in strong terms the delay in delivery of judgement in the case.
In his final ruling, Justice Abubakar Shittu, while adjourning the case for further hearing on Monday, 25th February, 2019, he ordered that no other processes or application for joinder in the case shall be entertained forthwith.
