Shehu Sani, lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District and candidate of the People’s Redemption Party, has called for Saturday’s election in Kaduna State to be cancelled.
Sani was defeated in his quest to return to the red chamber by the All Progressives Party’s Uba Sani.
Shehu cited reasons for his cancellation call, he said APC purchased 90 per cent of the votes in the state.
He also said People’s Redemption Party who were present at the election venue at all times gave him first hand information that APC rigged the whole thing.
He even said INEC officials were replaced with APC supporters.
His words, “As a gentle and also as one with a background as an activist, it was supposed to be a situation where if you were not favoured by the electorate and it was free and fair, you supposed to be a good sportsman, but you cannot be a sportsman in an arena of fraud, particularly in this Kaduna State.
“There are issues that require the attention of INEC to ensure that the aspirations and hopes of Nigerians are not dashed by the conduct of some of its officials and also by the conduct of government officials.
“The positive side is that we must appreciate the level of security in the state. Violence and thuggery that were expected never happened.
“This must have been as a result of the input of the commissioner of police and other security agencies.
“But we are particularly concerned about some fundamental issues that seriously undermined the integrity and credibility of the National Assembly election.”
