IGEL’s bestselling thin client has a new look and new advantages when it comes to connectivity, installation, convenience and eco-friendliness.
Reading, UK. 20th February 2014 – IGEL Technology today announced that its bestselling IGEL UD3 thin client model now has a new housing design improving the connectivity, versatility and eco-friendliness of the design. Identical in terms of construction, the IGEL IZ3 zero client, which allows access to virtualized desktops via Citrix HDX, Microsoft Remote FX or VMware Horizon View (PCoIP), also features the new housing. New design features include the slim shape, even easier VESA mounting, touch-sensitive buttons and the use of a plastic that is even easier to recycle. Equipped with a VIA Eden X2 dual core processor with 1 GHz and up to 2 GB DDR3 RAM, the IGEL UD3 has been IGEL’s most popular model for years.
Thanks to its new modular housing concept, the devices can be used in three possible scenarios: On the desk, mounted under the desk (VESA) or mounted on the back of a monitor (VESA), including the optional Connectivity Base. The VESA mounting required for this purpose is available on the new IGEL thin client in both the 75 mm and the 100 mm version.
The latest version of IGEL’s optional Connectivity Base includes two serial ports and a hidden USB port or, alternatively, two serial ports and an integrated WLAN module.
When it comes to operating components, the buttons and sockets on the front of the device have also been redesigned. The new on/off button is touch-sensitive, making it more hardwearing and easier to use. The new cover for the front USB and audio ports also reacts to gentle pressure and is therefore extremely easy to open and close.
And because even the longest-lasting thin client will eventually reach the end of its life, the new housing is made from of a single, durable type of plastic, which makes recycling and disposal easier.
Availability
The new UD3/IZ3 housing can be ordered now and can easily be integrated into existing IGEL installations. The IGEL UD3 costs £322 (excl. VAT) and the IZ3 £292 (excl. VAT).
