Former President of Nigeria, Olusegun Obasanjo failed to show up at his polling unit 22, Ward 11, Olusomi compound, Totoro, area of Abeokuta-North local government area of the state, Ogun State, during Saturday’s governorship and state House of Assembly elections.
This was the first time since 1999 that the two-time Nigerian leader will not vote in an election.
Obasanjo, who openly endorsed the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, during the February 25 election, is out of the country.
It is understood that he travelled out of Nigeria 10 days before the governorship and State Assembly elections and is yet to return.
Obasanjo became Nigeria’s first elected president after the country returned to democracy in 1999 from military rule. He was re-elected for another term in 2003.
