Burkina Faso and Mali have sent fighter jets to the Niger Republic in response to threats of military action by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
Burkina Faso and Mali have made it clear that they would view any military action taken against Niger as an act of war.
The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) had warned war on the Niger Republic if the junta failed to restore Mohamed Bazoum, the president elected by the people.
But both governments warned that sending in the military to Niger would only make things worse.
Part of a joint statement released by both governments warns that military action in Niger might have far-reaching effects throughout the region.
