The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded an explanation from the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its lawyers’ apparent urgency in keeping President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Chicago State University (CSU) transcripts secret.
The PDP claims that Tinubu’s public assertions that his academic records are excellent are at odds with the suit filed by the lawyers seeking the US District Court in Illinois not to reveal the alleged academic details.
The PDP pointed out that Tinubu had boasted to Nigerians in public that “I was one of those most recruited graduates of my university, multiple honours, First Class Degree and I have the reference point”
According to a statement released by the opposition on Friday and signed by its National Publicity Secretary Debo Ologunagba, “in view of the above assertion, the PDP therefore holds that the plea by the lawyers that the details of his academic record should not be released is a great disservice to President Tinubu in particular and Nigeria in general.”
According to the PDP, the APC’s increased propensity for deceit and underhand dealings with Nigerians under the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje is consistent with their fervent desire to conceal crucial facts.
To quote the PDP: “despite the malodorous corruption and bribery allegations against him in the public domain, the APC further confirms itself as not only being a cesspit of corruption but as irredeemably given to concealment and condonement of depravity, sleaze, and mendacious acts.”
An arson attack on the Supreme Court on Monday, September 25, 2023, with the intention of crippling and frustrating the Supreme Court in the handling of the Presidential Election appeals pending before it, is suspected, the party said, adding that it is curious that the APC has remained silent on these allegations and public apprehension of sabotage.
The PDP has stated that the APC should at least agree that it is desirable and their moral duty to encourage, insist, and ensure that the party be transparent with Nigerians and the world.
The PDP emphasized that it is unacceptable to fail in this obligation to the people of Nigeria.
It’s not just PDP speculation; “the litany of probes, inquiries, and investigations which were instituted on various matter without reports under the APC since 2015 validates the above,” the party said.
The APC poses a grave danger to our country’s democracy.
The People’s Democratic Party issued the following call to arms: “The PDP calls on all men of goodwill across our country and beyond to stand firm in the defense of Democracy, Transparency, and the Rule of Law in Nigeria, especially at this critical time.”
