The Confderation Africaine de Football (CAF) has commenced inspections of nations that are bidding to host the Africa Cup of Nations finals in 2019 and 2021.
The CAF Inspections Committee has started its work in West Africa, visiting Guinea and Ivory Coast. The delegation, constituted by the CAF Executive Committee, will over the coming months make similar visits to Algeria, Cameroun, Zambia and Congo DR in that order.
The Committee made up of two members of the CAF executive Committee Messrs Amadou Diakite and Adoum Djibrin, FIFA Expert Walter Gagg, CAF Expert Paul Bassey and CAF Africa Cup Tournaments Director Amr Fahmy has spent the ended week in Guinea with their visit running from 7th April to the 12th. The CAF delegation has now arrived in Cote D’Ivoire and will be visiting Ivorian centres to 18th April with their first stop in Abidjan.
While in Guinea, the Committee visited proposed host cities of Labe, Kankan, Nzerekore and Conakry, where they inspected hospitals, hotels, roads, airports, training pitches and stadiums and held a series of meetings with the authorities.
The Committee will upon completion of all inspections of bidding nations present its report to CAF. The CAF Executive Committee meeting in September 2014 will decide on the host nations for 2019 and 2021.
