Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has conferred the instruments of office on six traditional rulers from the Oke-Ogun geopolitical zone of the state.
The presentation of the instruments of office took place between Thursday and Friday.
The newly appointed traditional rulers are Chief Oyelowo Joseph Oyetunde – Apeerin of Saki; Prince James Okanlawon Adigun – Lasigbon-Kinnikinni of Saki; Alhaji Jimoh Adeola Ayiki – Baale Oke-Oro; Alhaji Raimi Aiki Boorepo – Baale-Iya of Saki; Oba Abiodun Oyerinde Owolabi (Oyekuleyin l) – Onibise of Ibise-Otu; and Chief Thomas Opoola Olaore (Ariina lll) – Baale of Komu.
Governor Makinde, represented by the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Olusegun Olayiwola, charged the newly appointed traditional rulers to collaborate with their communities for development.
He assured them of the government’s commitment to addressing issues of insecurity, land grabbing, and illegal mining in their areas.
In his address, the governor emphasized the importance of the monarchs’ role in ensuring the safety and prosperity of their domains.
He urged them to prioritize the well-being of their people and work towards the progress and development of their respective towns.
Makinde underscored the significance of unity among the traditional rulers and their communities, highlighting the need for a collective effort to advance the interests of the region.
He reiterated the government’s support for the traditional institution and its role in promoting peace and development in Oyo State.
