Sir Celestine Omehia, former Governor of Rivers State, has criticized the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, advising him to reduce his desire for power and greed and allow Governor Siminalayi Fubara to govern effectively.
In a statement sent to media outlets on Friday, Omehia accused Wike of being tormented by an undying inclination for power, leading to unstable moments.
His comments were in response to Wike’s recent live television interview in Abuja, where he referred to some PDP leaders in Rivers State as “expired politicians and buccaneers” for supporting Fubara.
Omehia described Wike’s outbursts as those of a confused mind, stating that Wike’s anger stemmed from his failed ambition for a third term and the realization that his quest for power is personal rather than for the interest of Rivers State or the South-South region.
He criticized Wike for his alleged disrespect towards elders and his tendency to lie and speak inconsistently.
Omehia emphasized that his support for Governor Fubara and the Federal Government under President Tinubu does not diminish his capacity to contribute to the growth and development of Rivers State and Nigeria.
Omehia questioned Wike’s need to perpetually engage in political warfare and advised him to focus on his responsibilities in Abuja, as Rivers State is not missing his presence or his disruptive behavior.
