Felix Akhabue, a former governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the September 21 election in Edo State, has tendered his resignation from the party.
Akhabue’s decision to resign comes after being one of the 10 governorship aspirants who protested against the conduct of ward and local government congresses of the party leading up to the primary election held in February.
In a letter dated May 6, 2024, addressed to the Ward 7 chairman of the party in Esan West Local Government Area, Akhabue cited the party leadership’s prejudicial activities as the reason for his resignation, stating, “My decision to resign is borne out of the glaring prejudicial activities of the party’s Leadership against my fair, reasonable and continuous participation as a member of the party.”

He expressed appreciation to his genuine friends in the party with whom he had worked over the years. Akhabue is a member of the Legacy Group faction of the PDP in the state.
