The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has dismissed reports of the suspension of its South-East National Vice Chairman, Chief Ali Odefa, from his ward in Ebonyi State.
In a statement released by the party’s media director in the South-East zone, Richard Nwafor, the PDP alleged that the ward executives responsible for the purported suspension were hired by an opposition party to create disunity and destabilize the party.
“Our attention has been drawn to a media statement attributed to some faceless individuals, allegedly ward executives of our party in Onicha Local Government Area of Ebonyi State,” the statement read.
“These individuals, having failed in their attempts to hijack the structure of our party for selfish political interests, have resorted to causing confusion.”
Nwafor urged party members and the public to disregard the suspension claims, emphasizing that Chief Ali Odefa remains committed to his duties.
“We categorically state that High Chief Dr. Ali Odefa remains undeterred and focused in the discharge of his functions,” he said.
The statement further noted that no amount of distraction would derail Odefa’s efforts to strengthen the PDP in Ebonyi State and across the South-East.
Following a Federal High Court ruling in Abakaliki that dissolved the Caretaker Committee in the state, the South-East Zonal Working Committee assumed leadership of the PDP’s activities in Ebonyi State.
“No distractions will derail the National Vice Chairman’s unwavering efforts to reposition the party in the state and South-East,” the statement added.
The PDP also advised the public to ignore false claims and urged party members and supporters to stand firm against any blackmail from individuals whose party loyalty remains questionable.
