The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, would have pursued “the same old, failed policies” if elected president.
In a statement issued by APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the ruling party argued that Atiku offered no substantive proposals on issues like the unified exchange rate and fuel subsidy removal, which have been central to recent economic reforms.
InfoStride News recalls that Atiku had outlined measures he would have taken to address Nigeria’s economic challenges had he won the presidency.
He criticized President Bola Tinubu’s floating exchange rate policy, calling it excessive, and urged the president to consider his own ideas.
Responding to Atiku’s remarks, Morka said, “Atiku is fully aware that price increases are an inevitable consequence of implementing a unified exchange rate and removing fuel subsidies. There’s no magic solution to avoid this.”
In a statement titled, “Atiku Would Have Done More of the Same Old, Failed Policies,” Morka emphasized that Atiku’s criticisms failed to offer realistic alternatives for addressing Nigeria’s economic issues.
The APC’s statement, posted on X, insisted that Atiku’s approach lacked the necessary reforms needed to steer Nigeria’s economy forward.
