President Bola Tinubu has postponed the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting initially scheduled for Wednesday, in honor of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, who passed away on Tuesday night.
The announcement was made in a statement by Tinubu’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga. “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has rescheduled the Federal Executive Council meeting to another date, which will be announced,” the statement read.
The late General Lagbaja, appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023, served in the role until his passing on November 5, 2024.
In addition to rescheduling the FEC meeting, President Tinubu has directed that flags be flown at half-mast across the country for seven days to honor the late general.
