Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State has commiserated with the Peoples Democratic Party in the state and the family of Dr. Dejo Raimi over the death of the PDP stalwart and former Secretary to the State Government.
The Governor, in a statement issued in Ibadan on Monday by his Special Adviser on Media, Dr. Festus Adedayo, described the death of the politician as disheartening and unfortunate.
“It is with shock and disbelief that I received the news of the death of my Uncle, Dr. Dejo Raimi. His death as this critical period of our national life is unfortunate, disheartening and sad,” he said.
Governor Ajimobi described the late Dr. Raimi not only as a renowned physician but also a quintessential politician and astute administrator whose opinion had helped tremendously in shaping the course of governance.
“Dr. Raimi was one politician who would bare his mind not minding whose ox was gored. I remember vividly sometimes in 2012 when he openly demanded for Sallah ram from me, though unwittingly, during an interview programme at a private radio station in Ibadan, insisting that he was entitled to such gesture as a former Secretary to the State Government. Such was his high sense of humour to drive home his point,” he said.
The Governor said that the former Secretary to the State Government lived a good and fulfilled life and should, therefore, be celebrated.
While praying for the repose of the soul of the deceased, the Governor beseeched God to grant the late politician the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
