Abuja (OHCSF Report) – The Nigerian Government has reiterated the necessity of introducing more stringent measures towards protecting data integrity on the IPPIS platform saying it will ensure that Officers in the Federal Public Service are not able to manipulate their records
In a Circular titled: “Incessant Requests for Change of Employee Date of Birth and Date of First Appointment on the IPPIS Platform,” issued from his Office and sent to all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of the Federal Government, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi observed with serious concern the incessant requests for correction of Dates of Birth (DOB) and Date of First Appointment (DOFA) of Officers from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs). “These requests are usually predicated on the claim that a mistake was made at the time of capturing the employees’ records on the IPPIS Platform,” he noted.
He charged all Permanent Secretaries and Heads of Agencies to thoroughly scrutinize the documents presented by Officers for any change of data on the IPPIS Platform as they would be held personally liable for any information and /or falsification of such applications.
The Head of Service also said that information on employee’s Date of Birth and Date of First Appointment form part of the sensitive employee data variables on the IPPIS Platform and must therefore be handled with caution. He further directed that all requests for correction of Date of Birth and Date of First Appointment by Officers be addressed to the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation.
“Such requests must also be accompanied with employee’s personal files containing records of service and other relevant documents to buttress the claims. The requests should be forwarded through letters duly endorsed by Directors of Human Resources Management (HRM) of their respective MDAs,” he stated
Danladi Kifasi warned that any breach of these procedures will attract sanctions in accordance with the Public Service Rules (PSR).
