The Ward to Ward campaign train of the Ogun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) gubernatorial candidate, Hon (Dr) Ladi Adebutu, stopped at Ijebu North East Local Government on January 8, 2019. It was the continuation of the political grassroots process which kick-started on December 5, 2018.
Party members across the 10 wards that make up the LG turned out to express their unalloyed loyalty and readiness to work assiduously for the emergence of Adebutu as the elected governor of Ogun State on March 2, 2019.
The campaign rally which had in attendance foremost political leaders from within and outside Ijebu North East LG, further cemented the trust the Ogun people have in the leadership of Adebutu and basically the expression of their desire to be liberated from the shackles of poverty and retrogression of APC government.
Adebutu, in his speech, urged the good people of INE LG not to be deterred by the antics of desperate few to cause commotion where none existed. He told them to be ready for positive and progressive change adding that his desire to be a servant of the people was genuinely premised on his burning determination to usher into Ogun State a pedigree of prosperity where life would be lived meaningfully and poverty reduced to its barest minimum.
“”I am quite aware that the expectations of our people are very high. When elected, I am determined to ensure there is even development in Ogun State. I equally believe that the development of the rural areas would occupy the front burner of my administration. This can only be made possible through the return of the local council to the grassroot. When that happens, prosperity will reign supreme unlike now where local administration has ceased to function in the last 7 and half years,” he stated.
Not only that, the one time Commissioner I, Ogun State Local Government Service Commission, promised to embark on massive job creation and revealed his agenda to give the youths and women the chance to prove their worth.
Earlier, Adebutu had an interactive session with the Council of Baales, Christian and Islamic Clerics of Ijebu NE LG. While soliciting their support, Adebutu reminded them of the positive impact of PDP government led by Otunba Gbenga Daniel (2003-2011) in the local government especially in terms of infrastructural development. He assured them of a repeat and better performance when he is voted for on March 2, 2019. The clerics and Baales expressed their gratitude to Adebutu on his unrelenting gestures towards Ijebu land. They pledged the support of their people for him on March 2, 2019.
The Arowasi of Ilese, Alhaji Isaq Gbede, said “We are very certain that your wish to be the governor of the state is not borne out of selfish desire but strictly because of the love you have for the people. We don’t entertain any fear on your ability to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people. We assure you of our support.” On his own part, the Baale of Igede, High Chief Duro Olugbode, who is also the Chairman, Council of Baales, Ijebu North East LG, prayed for the success of Hon Ladi at the polls and recognition of the Baales and attention accorded same when he formed his government.
In his usual characteristic, the philanthropist, donated 500KVA transformer to Erigo Community. Adebutu stated that the transformer was made available due to his stout belief that electricity would enhance quality living and help boost economic growth and development of the affected community which had suffered neglect by the present government.
One of the residents of the community, Mr Tola Adegbesan, expressed confidence in Adebutu’s ability to bring smile to the people and achieve his set targets for Ogun state in general.
“I am particularly excited with the gesture of Adebutu. It didn’t come to me as a surprise anyway given his philanthropic pedigree. I am very confident in his ability to govern this state effectively and fulfill all promises he makes to the people” he stated.
Theater practitioners of the Nigeria yoruba movie industry were on ground to add value to the aspiration of Adebutu. Murphy Afolabi, Laide Bakare, Kamilu Kompo and Sanyeri, in turns, enjoined the people to vote massively for Hon Ladi.
