The Director-General of the National Agency for Food, Drugs Administration and Control, NAFDAC, Dr. Paul Orhii, has been summoned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission over allegations bordering on abuse of office.
The NAFDAC boss is currently being questioned by a crack team of EFCC investigators for allegedly awarding huge contracts to companies in which he has interests.
According to Vanguard, Orhii arrived the EFCC headquarters in Abuja around 10am on Monday.
A top source at the anti-graft agency’s headquarters confirmed the development to the newspaper.
The source said: “It is true that the NAFDAC head was summoned by us and he is currently being quizzed in relation to allegations that he has been awarding contracts running into millions of Naira to companies close to him”.
The source, however, said he had no idea if Dr. Orhii might be released on self-recognition.
