The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun today made a donation of N5m each to members of the State chapter of the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) and members of the State Indigenous Entertainment Professionals Forum.
The donations were in fulfillment of pledges made to the groups when they visited Governor Amosun a couple of weeks ago and meant to assist POWA in building its secretariat in Abeokuta, while that given to the actors who are indigenes of the State was meant to assist them in the smooth take-off of their operations.
Presenting the cheque on behalf of the Governor to POWA executives, Secretary to the State Governor, Barrister Taiwo Adeoluwa said government was favourably disposed to the secretariat project as it keyed in into its urban renewal programme which it noted was turning around the face of the State.
The Governor who commended the police for the gallantry of its men and the role it had been playing in ensuring the security of lives and property in the State said it would have been impossible for them to achieve without the support of their wives.
“We have had a remarkable improvement in the security of lives and property in the State since we came and we know that if they are succeeding, it is because you have kept the home front”, the Governor said.
The Governor who assured that the issues of security of lives and property would continue to be given priority affirmed that government would continue to provide support to the police and other allied agencies in the State towards achieving set objectives.
Also presenting a cheque in like sum to members of Ogun State Indigenes Entertainment Professionals Forum, Governor Amosun described them as good ambassadors who through their vocations had put the name of the State on the entertainment map.
