A chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abayomi Nurain Mumuni, has cautioned against early political distractions aimed at President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging politicians to focus on governance rather than premature 2027 presidential ambitions.
In a statement released through his Media Aide, Rasheed Abubakar, Mumuni expressed concern over recent efforts by a group known as the Forum of 2023 APC Presidential Candidates, led by former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Ahmed Sani Yerima, to endorse President Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
Mumuni emphasized that the President is currently dedicated to governing and fulfilling his promises to the nation, urging politicians not to divert his attention with what he termed “political shenanigans.”
He urged them to prioritize contributing to governance and the welfare of citizens instead of premature electioneering.
The APC chieftain criticized the formation of a forum for 2027 politics at this early stage, describing it as a ploy by former presidential aspirants to seek personal favors from the President rather than focusing on national development.
Mumuni cautioned against the proliferation of such forums, warning that they could lead to a flood of similar groups seeking advisory roles in the presidency, potentially disrupting governance with unnecessary political maneuvers.
He called on politicians to act as statesmen and focus on addressing the country’s challenges, emphasizing the need for constructive contributions to national development rather than early politicking.
