Members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Forum of contestants in Taraba sState, have finally broken their silence on why they decided not to reach out to the state congress appeal committee with their petitions and complaints.
The Secretary of the Forum, Abdullahi Sani Tulu, who spoke with DAILY POST on Saturday in Jalingo, the state capital, saw no reason members of the Forum should reach out to the committee with their complaints or petitions when they are already in court.
Not comfortable with the way and manner the just-concluded ward, local government as well as the state Congresses were conducted in the state, the forum, as noticed by the media, decided to drag the party before the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo.
Though they were alleged not to have exhausted all the avenues of settling disputes in the party before falling back to the court, the forum has, however, debunked the allegation, stating that “as far as we are concerned we have done our best.”
Tulu, who was of the view that the court is the last hope for the common man said “We decided not to reach out to the committee with our petitions because we believe that justice will be done by the court.”
Though some of the Forum’s members were said to have confronted members of the appeal committee with their petitions, which Tulu admitted, those members according to him “are those who have not dragged the party to court.”
Admitting that despite submitting their petitions, they are still aggrieved and not pleased with the conducts of the congresses, the forum, he said will continue to remain intact pending when the party will be willing to do what is right.
He said ” some of our forum members have presented their petitions and complaints to the appeal committee, and as I am talking with you right now, six of us have not yet submitted any reports to them because we are already in court with our party.”
Stressing that “we don’t intend to reach out to the appeal committee with any forms of complaints or petitions, the outcome of the federal high court ruling , he said, will determine the position of the entire members of the Forum.
The APC state Congress committee, which Newsmen noticed to have been in the state since last Wednesday, was led by its Secretary, Barrister Omosuwa Olufemi Mayor.
