The All Progressives Congress (APC) has criticised Peter Obi, the 2023 presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), labelling him a “serial complainer” who refuses to accept election results that do not favour him or his supported candidates.
Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, made the statement during an interview with Arise TV.
He dismissed Obi’s concerns regarding the recently concluded Edo State governorship election, asserting that his opinions on the matter were irrelevant.
Morka said, “Peter Obi is a serial complainer who will not accept the result of any election that is not in his favour or the candidates he supports. Since the 2023 election, Obi has been in consistent denial of that election. Now, he has a new pet project, which is to deny the Edo State election.”
He went on to say that if Obi, or others like Labour Party’s governorship candidate Olumide Akpata, were dissatisfied with the election results, they should take their grievances to court.
“Whatever he thinks of the Edo election is completely irrelevant. If Akpata and Ighodalo [PDP candidate] are not satisfied, they should head to court and present their case with evidence.
It’s not enough to make high-sounding allegations in the headlines; they need realistic evidence to prove their claims.”
The Edo State governorship election saw APC candidate Monday Okpebholo emerge victorious with 291,667 votes, while Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) received 247,274 votes. Labour Party’s Olumide Akpata finished with 22,763 votes.
The APC has dismissed allegations of irregularities in the election, while opposition parties continue to express their dissatisfaction with the outcome.
