The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Abdullahi Adamu, has said that the party did not disqualify any candidate among its 23 presidential aspirants.
Adamu disclosed this on Saturday while speaking with journalists on the report of the screening committee.
The former Nasarawa State governor rubbished reports that the Chief John Oyegun screening committee disqualified 10 aspirants leaving only 13 in the race.
According to Adamu, the committee did not screen out aspirants, but instead graded them on certain criteria.
“Nobody has been disqualified. We have the report. No aspirant has been disqualified. It is like sitting in an exam. Even if you pass, there is grading. There is first class, second class upper and the rest,” Adamu told reporters on Saturday.
“As it stands, no aspirant has been disqualified.”
Oyegun had on Friday announced that 10 presidential aspirants on the party’s platform were disqualified while about 13 of them would battle it out for the party’s sole ticket.
He said that some factors influenced the committee’s report which include aspirant’s ability to lead and their background
He said that the basic constitutional qualification to aspire to be a president of the country was also put into consideration.
From the committee’s report, only Abubakar, Badaru, Akpabio, Godswill Obot, Amaechi, Chibuike Rotimi, Amosun, Ibikunle, Bello, Yahaya, Fayemi, John Kayod, Jack -Rich, Tein, Lawan, Ahmed, Nwajiuba, Chukwuemeka Uwaezuoke, Onu, Christopher, Osinbajo, Yemi, Tinubu, Asiwaju Ahmed Bola and Umahi, Nweze David made the list.
