The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has reaffirmed its determination to secure victories in Abia and Enugu states in the 2027 general elections.
The party claims to have made significant progress in the South-East zone, positioning itself for success in the upcoming elections.
During the APC South-East stakeholders’ meeting held in Abakaliki, the national vice chairman of APC, Ijeoma Arodiogu, highlighted the party’s advances.
He revealed that discussions have been finalized with four Labour Party House of Representatives members in Enugu State for their defection to the APC.
Additionally, numerous opposition leaders in Abia State, including former Speaker of the State House of Assembly Chinedu Orji, have joined the APC.
“In Enugu State, we have concluded discussions with four House of Representatives members of the Labour Party,” Arodiogu stated.
“In Abia State, we have welcomed many political figures, including former Speaker of the Abia State House of Assembly, Chief Chinedum Orji, and his group.
We are strong in all the states and aim for more than 80-90% in the 2027 presidential election.”
Arodiogu dismissed previous claims against the APC, such as the alleged Islamization of the South-East, urging members to reject these narratives.
Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, also addressed the attendees, encouraging the South-East populace to maintain faith in the APC administration.
He highlighted President Bola Tinubu’s contributions to the region through appointments and infrastructure development, calling for unity and diligence to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 elections.
National Chairman Abdullahi Umar Ganduje emphasized the need for cohesion and unity within the party to achieve victories in Abia, Anambra, and Enugu.
“The challenges in Anambra, Abia, and Enugu are significant, but we are committed to liberating these states,” Ganduje asserted.
