Osun State Governor Rauf Aregbesola, yesterday, described the victory of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Muhammadu Buhari as the best thing to happen to Nigeria after the country has endured 16 years of misrule at the centre.
“I congratulate Nigerians for their steadfastness and commitment to a better Nigeria in the way they have come out right from the collection of permanent voters cards, which gave them the opportunity to exercise their civic responsibilities; their turn out during the election and their peaceful conducts,” he said in a statement by the Director, Bureau of Communication and Strategy, Office of the Governor, Mr. Semiu Okanlawon.
“The victory of the APC in the general elections should, therefore be seen as the triumph of democracy in Nigeria borne out of the people’s will and aspirations rather than the showing of strength of any political party or individuals.”
He charged all other political parties to take the results and final outcome of the election with the spirit of sportsmanship, saying the people have spoken through their votes.
