The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, has extended his hearty felicitations and commendations to the troops of the Nigerian Army and their families on the occasion of Eid-el-Kabir.
In a statement issued by Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, Director of Army Public Relations, Lagbaja praised the troops’ commitment and gallantry in confronting emerging security challenges and threats in the country.
Describing Eid-el-Kabir as a significant festival that underscores the importance of sacrifice in humanity and divinity, the COAS expressed gratitude for the relative peace restored in many previously troubled parts of the country.
He acknowledged the enormous sacrifices made by the Nigerian Army, both in human and logistical resources, in the ongoing battle against terrorism, insurgency, banditry, secessionist agitations, and various crimes.
General Lagbaja highlighted the unalloyed loyalty, extraordinary courage, and faith in the nation displayed by Nigerian Army troops, which have led to numerous victories despite facing grave dangers.
“Many bear the badge of courage and bravery in the form of battle scars and injuries, while others carry the memories and stories of their sacrifices for our beloved country,” he noted.
The COAS called for collective understanding and support for the government’s efforts to implement necessary reforms to restore economic prosperity.
He also urged all Nigerian Army personnel and their families to renew their commitment to selflessness and patriotism for the growth and development of the country.
Reaffirming his dedication to providing visionary and inclusive leadership, General Lagbaja emphasized the importance of effective training, robust living standards, and operational effectiveness for the Nigerian Army.
