The California Student Media Festival, the nations oldest festival of its kind, celebrates its 50th year of honoring student achievement and highlighting student creativity through media.
Entries can be submitted now through April 4, 2016. Winners will be announced on May 20. As with previous years, the festival is free to enter and free to attend.
The Student Media Festival exists to celebrate media and multimedia projects produced by California’s students and teachers – rewarding and acknowledging their successful classroom work. The Festival showcases what can be accomplished when talented students and dedicated teachers work together integrating media and multimedia into education. Over the past twenty years, the California Student Media Festival has awarded more than $140,000 to California Schools. It has expanded to include the work of more than 6,000 student contestants from schools across the state.
Hall Davidson, the Festival’s emcee and former Director shared, “Every student knows that somehow, somewhere, deep inside, he or she is a star. Students just need help discovering the moment. By tying the festival experience to learning, the festival makes the curriculum a path toward recognizing that inner stardom. The process works—and kids will work hard to be part of it.”
