The Federal High Court in Gusau has restrained the Zamfara State House of Assembly from removing Hon. Aliyu Ango Kagara, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Talata Mafara South Constituency.
The ruling was disclosed on Monday in a statement by the APC Publicity Secretary in Zamfara, Yusuf Idris Gusau.
According to him, the decision followed a lawsuit (No. FHC/GSCS/10/2025) filed by Kagara against the state Assembly, its Speaker, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), challenging his removal from office.
Presiding over the case, Justice Salim Olasupo Ibrahim granted an interim injunction preventing INEC from conducting a bye-election for the seat.
The court also ordered that the status quo be maintained pending further proceedings.
The case has been adjourned to March 12, 2025.
Meanwhile, the state Assembly has suspended nine lawmakers from various parties, reducing its membership below the two-thirds majority required to pass bills.
