Former Rivers State National Assembly member, Dagogo Farah, has hailed the outcome of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) 98th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting as a testament to the party’s resilience in the face of adversity.
Amidst pre-meeting speculations focusing on navigating the North Central Zone’s leadership transition, particularly after Iyiorchia Ayu’s tenure was cut short, there were concerns about the party’s direction.
Speaking after the meeting, Farah praised the timely sacrifices made by those committed to the party’s interests.

He credited the political maturity of leaders like Former Vice President Alhaji Atiku Abubakar for averting crises.
In a statement on Thursday by his Media and Publicity Advisor, Farah expressed optimism that by the adjourned August meeting, Acting Chairman Umar Damagum would realize that stepping down would be in the party’s best interest.
Farah stated, “For me, the outcome of the NEC Meeting was a win-win situation. Against all odds, the party came out unscathed and will continue to grow stronger.
“Yes, the Acting Chairman retained his position, but it is obvious to him now and others that it would be in the best interest of the party for him to vacate that position for a more purposeful and result-oriented leadership by August.
“The so-called tension generated in the build-up to the NEC Meeting was actually orchestrated by the inordinate desire of some individuals who wanted to thwart the call by party faithful for a review of its failing leadership and direction.
“The Party, however, did not play into the hands of those individuals who wanted the party to implode to improve their political fortunes, thanks to the political maturity and sagacity of the Party’s National Leader and Former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, along with other leaders, before and during the NEC Meeting.
We are where we are now because of their sacrifices and dedication to the party.”
