He might have been at Juventus for only a month or two, but Cristiano Ronaldo’s future has already become the subject of speculation.
The Mail and the Daily Star reckon that Juve’s £100 million man has already been installed as a top transfer target for Inter Miami CF, otherwise known as David Beckham’s new MLS franchise.
Co-owner Beckham unveiled his club’s name and badge only Wednesday, but already he’s reportedly drawing up plans to entice Ronaldo when the team begin competing in 2020. The Portuguese superstar would be 35 by that point, but his creeping age wouldn’t even come close to putting Miami off breaking the league transfer record to acquire his services.
The Star adds that Beckham might also be considering an outlandish attempt to reunite Ronaldo with former Manchester United strike partner Wayne Rooney in Florida — the pair having scored oodles of goals together at Old Trafford in their younger years.
Having made the jump to MLS with DC United earlier this season, Rooney might prove to be an altogether more realistic prospect when Miami are eventually up and running.
