Delta State Governor, Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, has cautioned against the imposition of candidates in the upcoming local government council elections in the state.
Speaking at the PDP Delta Central Stakeholders’ meeting held at his Osubi country home, Governor Oborevwori emphasized that only candidates who are popular and accepted by all stakeholders will be chosen.
“We will not accept any candidate through the back door. For anybody to emerge, it must be a collective decision from the wards and must be a popular candidate,” Governor Oborevwori stated.
He highlighted the need for collective agreement on candidates to ensure a smooth primary election process, emphasizing that Delta State is known for its solid political stance.
Governor Oborevwori expressed gratitude to party leaders for their support and the vote of confidence passed on him and his administration.
He assured Deltans that he would not disappoint them and that there is no power tussle or conflict in Delta State.
The State Chairman of the party, Dr Kingsley Esiso, reiterated the need for leaders to support the Oborevwori-led administration.
He also announced the establishment of Caretaker Committees at the Wards and Local Government Areas following the expiration of the tenure of the previous executives, which will function for three months.
