Ekiti State Civil Servants have been cautioned to desist from the unethical habit of coming late to work henceforth or be prepared to face stiff disciplinary actions.
The Deputy Governor, Dr. Kolapo Olusola gave the advice during an impromptu visit to the State Secretariat on Friday to observe workers attendance at work.
The Deputy Governor who arrived the secretariat complex a few minutes after 8.00 o’clock am which is the official time for workers to resume was surprised that only a few of them were in their offices while many others were seeing rushing to their offices on sighting the deputy governor’s team.
Dr. Olusola condemned the lackadaisical attitude of some of the workers who just strolled into their offices far behind the official resumption time and charged them to cultivate the habit of coming to work on time to do the work for which the government pays them.
He reminded them that, despite the financial challenges Governor Ayodele Fayose inherited from the previous government, he has been trying all its best to fulfill its obligations to the civil servants in the payment of salaries and other emoluments since inception of his administration.
He therefore urged them to reciprocate the goodwill of the government by being disciplined, diligent at work and be loyal to the government who is making frantic efforts to improve their working condition.
In a brief meeting with the Directors and officers on grade level 12 and above in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MOEST) and the Teaching Service Commission, (TSC) the Deputy Governor urged the senior cadre officers to live by example for the junior workers to emulate.
He however, commended officers who were already in their offices and others that were singled out for having done one thing or the other well for living up to expectation and admonished the subordinate to wake up and be alive to discharging their responsibilities.
