At the extraordinary meeting of the National Council on Information today, the Director General of the National Broadcasting Corporation, Mr. Emeka Mba has asserted that with digitization, there will be no more reference to broadcast stations as we have them but we will be talking technically of broadcast signals.
This, he said, will allow broadcast institutions to concentrate more on content provisions and translation to local languages which the people can relate to, rather than concentrating on maintenance of hard assets hitherto used for broadcasting prior to switchover date.
Mr. Mba painted lots of picture which eulogise digitization as opposed to analogue broadcasting which he said “will improve television/broadcasting experience for our people.”
He urged all participants at the extraordinary meeting of NCI to join hands with FG to ensure that Nigeria goes the wjole hog of the digitization process as the FG has already set it off in Jos, Plateau State a few days ago.
