Mesut Ozil has ended speculation over his future by signing a new three-year deal with Arsenal, a source close to the player has said.
Ozil, 29, was due to be out of contract at the end of the season but will now be tied to the club until the summer of 2021.
The deal, worth £12 million a year after tax, comes on the same day that Arsenal announced the club-record signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund.
However, reports said Ozil’s decision was not related to the Aubameyang deal but that the German playmaker simply decided he wanted to remain at Arsenal and in London.
