Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State has urged leaders in the country to maintain their connections with people especially after getting into positions of authority.
He stressed that leaders must know that the positions they occupy should not lead to a separation between them and their people.
The governor, according to a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi, in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday, said the main reason for being a leader was to impact people’s lives positively.
“Apart from being able to gauge the mood of the people and get feedback from them concerning government policies, it is also an avenue to educate them on steps being taken by the government too.
“Not many of them have access to those in authority, and a good leader must be ready to serve and not disconnect himself from those he is leading”, he said.
Some of the residents at Irewumi Estate in the outskirts of Ado Ekiti, told the governor about the poor power supply to their community.
In his response, the governor said the power sector had been privatized and that the people too should be ready to promptly pay their electricity bills.
While promising more government presence in their community, Fayose charged them to support his administration with prayer.
