Suspected cultists have killed a member of Udu vigilante and have shot another at Owhase culminating into the enforcement of a dusk-to-dawn curfew on Aladja over recent cultists’ activities.
Serious of cultists attacks have hit the coastal town of Aladja in the past weeks. In one of the attacks, a married woman was defiled, and items stolen. In another, a vigilante member attached to Ohwase was shot in the leg at New York Junction and his gun stolen.
Vanguard learnt that some suspects have been arrested and handed over to the police for prosecution.
“A lot of cult members have been arrested at Aladja before and after last week’s attack. The community has emplaced a 12am to 5am curfew after the recent cultists’ attack,” a Vanguard source at Aladja said.
“With that decision, peace and normalcy have returned to the community. It is a decisive action on curbing the menace of cultism with vigilante and youth leaders embarking on street patrols daily and it is yielding immediate results.
“Cultists are now fleeing the town; Aladja has zero tolerance for criminality. So it came as a jolt. The leadership was very sore and they have vowed to deal decisively with anyone caught as a cultist or criminal.”
Following the latest killings, Police recovered the cultists’ operational vehicle, which was suspected to have been stolen.
Aladja is the town where the Delta Steel Company is located.
