The Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, NSCIA, has renewed calls for the need to sustain peaceful coexistence between Muslims and Christians in the country.
In its goodwill message to Christians in the country, sent to the President, Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, the umbrella body for Muslims in Nigeria felicitated with them for witnessing another Easter.
The message, signed by Ishaq Oloyede, Secretary-General of the Council, also reassured the Christian community in Nigeria, of sincere collaboration of Muslims.
“The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA), under the leadership of its President-General, His Eminence, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar, mni, CFR, the Sultan of Sokoto, conveys, by this letter, its message of felicitations and goodwill, through Your Grace, to the entire Christians in Nigeria, on the occasions of the Good Friday and Easter.
“The Council also seizes these occasions to reiterate its commitment to sincere collaboration with Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in ensuring peaceful co-existence among all Nigerians of faith.
“We urge that the occasions be spent in preaching, praying and working towards a peaceful prosperous and united Nigeria.
“We wish the entire Christendom happy celebrations of the historic events being marked by the occasions.
“Please accept the assurances of the highest regards from the entire Muslims Community in Nigeria”, stated NSCIA in the letter.
