A Kano-based legal practitioner, Abdullahi Muhammed Hanga was on Friday, June 5, 2015 arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, before Justice Aisha Mahmud of Kano State High Court for alleged property fraud to the tune of Fifty Million Naira.
The accused was given the property three years ago to sell by one Hadiza. But contrary to the instruction of the property owner to sell the said property to a particular buyer, Abdullahi, using forged documents, sold the property to one of his relations and converted the proceeds to personal use.
When the charge was read to him, Abdullahi entered a not-guilty plea. His counsel, Y.M Nura filed a verbal bail application which was opposed by prosecuting counsel, A.T Habib on the grounds that the accused had jumped administrative bail earlier granted him by the Commission.
Justice Mahmud however adjourned the matter to June 9, 2015 for hearing on the bail application and remanded the accused in EFCC custody.
