Eight former local government chairmen in Edo State, who were formerly under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) after their exit in 2020.
The returnees, including John Akhigbe, Dr. Josie Ogedegbe, Frank Ilaboya, Andrew Osigwe, Napoleon Agbama, Scott Ogbemudia, Austin Okoibhole, and Mrs.
Ruth Osahor, pledged their support for the APC and committed to working for its victory in the September 21, 2024, election.
They were received on Monday night at the Benin residence of the party leader, Senator Adams Oshiomhole, in the presence of the APC governorship candidate, Monday Okpebholo, his running mate, Dennis Idahosa, and the acting state Chairman of the party, Jaret Tenebe.
Addressing the returnees, Oshiomhole expressed his pleasure at their return, highlighting their past contributions to governance when he was governor.
He acknowledged that misunderstandings or communication gaps may have led to their departure but welcomed them back into the party fold.
In response, Frank Ilaboya, speaking on behalf of the returnees, expressed gratitude for the warm reception and emphasized their commitment to Oshiomhole’s vision for the state.
He assured Oshiomhole and the APC leadership of their dedication to the party’s success in the upcoming election.
The former chairmen were assured by Oshiomhole that they would enjoy all the rights and privileges accorded to members of the APC.
