Earlier today, it was declared by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, that Mohammed Barde, the Commissioner of Police for the state of Imo, will be reassigned before to the gubernatorial elections that will take place on Saturday in the state.
InfoStride News was made to understand that the CP was recently accused of being partisan by the Labour Party as well as other stakeholders.
Following the assault on its president, Joe Ajaero, which took place on Wednesday in Owerri, the Nigeria Labour Congress also called for the head of the police force to be removed from his position.
Egbetokun stated on Sunday night during a programme that was broadcast on Channels Television that the Nigeria Police Force had finished making plans to transfer the CP in response to the appeal for the relocation of the CP.
“We are aware that there are allegations against the Commissioner of Police in Imo,” Egbetokun is quoted as saying. We will be making changes to the CP before the elections.
“This does not mean that the CP was found guilty of the crime. However, in the interest of maintaining impartiality, we have decided to replace the Commissioner of Police in the state of Imo.
