The 14th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, has met with the military junta in Niamey, which looks to be an effort to appease the coup leaders in the Niger Republic.
Telegraph stated that the leaders of the coup were overjoyed by Sanusi’s visit, even if an attempt to reach the Emir by phone went unanswered.
An unnamed insider claimed that the coup organizers had considered the Emir’s wishes, including a time frame in which the issues could be resolved peacefully.
Sanusi was welcomed by the new military junta in Niamey, the capital of the Niger Republic, where he was met by some of his closest allies and employees.
The group apparently discussed potential solutions to the country’s problems.
After the seven-day deadline given to the coupists passed, the ECOWAS leaders will meet on Thursday to discuss the next steps.
