Hon. Otuwe Kalu Oji, a former Abia State House of Assembly candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has called on the party’s leadership in the state to prioritize unity ahead of future elections.
He emphasized that the party can secure victory at all levels of leadership in Abia if internal factions unite and work together towards common goals, setting aside personal grievances.
Speaking to newsmen in Umuahia, Oji expressed regret over the APC’s performance in the 2023 elections, particularly its failure to win the state governorship seat.
He attributed this outcome to ongoing conflicts among key party stakeholders in Abia.
Oji urged the state APC leadership to engage in genuine reconciliation efforts to resolve internal conflicts, emphasizing that a divided party cannot succeed in elections.
He emphasized the need for all aggrieved party members to set aside personal grudges for the greater good of the party’s electoral prospects.
According to Oji, “We need unity in Abia APC chapter.
There’s no way a party that is divided by itself can secure victory during an election.
Every aggrieved party member should put aside personal grudges if the APC must win the governorship, state assembly election and the rest.”
He further stressed the importance of genuine reconciliation to foster unity of purpose among party members, highlighting it as a crucial step towards winning future electoral contests in Abia state.
Oji emphasized that resolving internal conflicts was essential for the APC to increase its chances of winning political seats in the state.
