Prince Uche Secondus, the former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has blamed the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike, for the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State, alleging that Wike is pursuing his selfish interests.
Speaking to journalists in Abuja, Secondus accused Wike of being the mastermind behind Governor Siminalaye Fubura’s political woes, claiming that the former governor has brought misery, grief, and anguish to the state.
He also criticized Wike for failing to attract any federal projects to Rivers State.
According to Secondus, the rift between Fubura and his estranged godfather, Wike, began when Fubura decided to prevent the looting of the state’s resources.
He suggested that the political crisis in the state is driven by individuals who seek unrestricted access to the state’s finances, a demand that Fubura has resisted.
Secondus questioned Wike’s record of attracting federal projects to Rivers State during his tenure as governor and his current role as FCT Minister, implying that Wike has not brought any tangible development to the state.
He stated, “Wike has been Governor for eight years and is now Minister of the FCT.
As Minister, what has he, Wike, attracted in terms of Federal projects to our dear State since he assumed office? Perhaps misery, grief, and anguish.
As governor he supervised the exit of investors from the state due to his draconian policies.”
Secondus also expressed disappointment in Wike’s behavior towards him and former First Lady, Mrs. Patience Jonathan, who had supported Wike’s political career.
He called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intervene and urge Wike to stop exacerbating the political tensions in Rivers State, allowing Governor Fubura to govern effectively.
